Welcome Pi-rates!

The 2014-2015 school year will be full of fun and challenging work. Our math department has adopted new textbooks for Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2 and PreCalculus to support the new Missouri Learning Standards. Each classroom will have a classroom set of books and students will have access to the textbooks online (go to https://www.bigideasmath.com for more information). Our teachers will be working collaboratively to implement fresh teaching strategies focused around the Eight Standards for Mathematical Practice to prepare students for future coursework and careers. Because we want to foster critical thinking skills and produce students who are problem solvers, Pattonville math students will be called upon to do challenging work in problem solving, work that may require students to struggle to find unique solution pathways. Students will also be asked to communicate with mathematics, both verbally and in written form.

“The object of teaching a child is to enable him to get along without a teacher.” ― Elbert Hubbard

Our teachers will continue the use of the online course management system, Moodle, to communicate with students and provide online access to instructional content. To learn more go to iLearn.psd
